Barbara V. Borkowski

Barbara Victoria Borkowski (nee Benyak) 83, formerly of Beaver Dams, NY, passed away Monday, December 17, 2012 at Founder's Pavilion in Corning. She was born in Salemville, Pennsylvannia on December 11, 1929, the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Benyak. She was the youngest of 11 siblings . She was the wife of Frank Borkowski (Sr.), whom she married September 25, 1950 and who predeceased her in 2008. They were married 57 years. She was a loving mother and grandmother and who came to be called simply "Granny" by her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her love of old movies and singing songs, and devotion to her family. Surviving are three children: Frank J. (Shelia) Borkowski of Hammondsport, NY, Adela (Frank) Calandrello of Kingwood, TX and Barbara S. Borkowski of Corning, NY; three grandchildren: Carrie (Steven) Hamblin, Benjamin (Kathleen) Borkowski and John Calandrello along with great-granddaughter Madison Hamblin. Funeral arrangements will be handled by Fagan's Funeral home in Bath, NY (fagansfuneralhome.com). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held December 21st at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bradford, NY at 12:00 PM. Friends are invited to attend the Mass. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Catholic Charities of Steuben County at catholiccharitiessteuben.org.
