Barbara J. Piersons

Barbara J. Piersons, 93 years old, died December 11, 2020 at the Taylor Health Center in Bath, NY.
She was born April 17, 1927 in Corning, NY the daughter of the late
George B. and Frances (Lawrence) Adamy, and was a life long resident of Corning and Bath.
She graduated from Corning Free Academy and was a 1947 Graduate of Alfred University School of Nursing and the United States Cadet Nurse Corps Program, during World War II.
She trained at area hospitals; the Mount Morris Tuberculosis Sanitorium, Philadelphia Children's Hospital and Willard State Hospital.
Later in life, while raising her family, she earned her Master's in Nursing from Mansfield College.
Her career in nursing spanned 45 plus years.
She began at Corning Hospital in the Operating and Emergency rooms.
Upon moving to Bath she worked at Ira Davenport Hospital in Physical Therapy and in the Infection Control Program.
She was a member of the NY State Regulatory Review Board and ended her service career as Quality Assurance Director for 14 years.
A lifelong Republican, she was a member of the Corning Woman's Republican Club and also the Bath Area Republican Woman's Club.
In Bath she held the title of President for several years.
She also sat on the Board of the Seventh Judicial District. Barbara was most proud to be named to Who's Who Among American Woman in 1979. Barb was also a lifetime member of Christ Episcopal Church, Corning, NY, baptised and married there. She enjoyed summers at Keuka Lake with family, nature, reading and walking with friends. She was predeceased by her son S. Scott Piersons of Fairport, NY. Barb is survived by her children; Susan and Gary Tuller of Friendship, NY, Jeff Piersons of Horseheads, NY and Sara and Joe Machuga of Bradford, NY, seven grandchildren, two great granddaughters; sisters, Marcia Adamy of Corning, NY, JoAnn Olsen of Saratoga Springs, NY and Mary Lou and Bob English of Summerfield, FL. and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no services at this time.
Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
