Murat, Brownie J., age 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on February 17th, 2026. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Brownie leaves behind a legacy of hard work, deep faith, and joyful living.
He is survived by his daughters, Kolinda (Gary) Sniezek, Stephanie (Gregg Bittler) Hillman, and Tonya Murat; his sons, David (Rachel) Murat and Patrick Murat; six cherished grandchildren, Cristina, Justin, Jessica, Dalton, Johnathan, and Jacob; his beloved grand-dog, Copper; his brother, Paul; many nieces and nephews; and friend and son-in-law, Mike Hillman.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Rita (Krisher) Murat; his parents, Paul and Agnes Murat; and his siblings, Rose, Eugene, Alex, and Helen.
Born on July 14, 1940, Brownie was a lifelong resident of the area and a man who believed in honest work and caring for his family above all else. He retired from Elmhurst's Dairy/Steuben Foods in Prattsburg after many years of dedicated service. Never one to sit still, Brownie went on to build pole barns and continued working on his own farm, where he proudly raised beef cattle. Farming wasn't just a job to him - it was a way of life that reflected his strength, perseverance, and love of the land.
In retirement, Brownie and Rita embraced life to the fullest. They spent countless evenings polka dancing with dear friends and created treasured memories traveling the world together. Their partnership was marked by love, laughter, and unwavering devotion.
Brownie will be remembered for his steady presence, strong work ethic, warm smile, and the deep love he had for his family. His greatest joy was gathering with those he loved, sharing stories, and celebrating life's simple blessings.
Friends and family are invited to call on Saturday, February 21st 2026 from 11:00AM - 2:00PM at Fagan's Funeral Home at 31 E Morris St., Bath, NY. A service will follow at Fagans upon the conclusion of the visitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to Pluta Cancer Foundation, 125 Red Creek Drive, Suite 205B Rochester, NY 14623 in Brownie's memory.
