Bruce D. Dennis

Bruce David Dennis, born May 7, 1948, in Rochester, NY to George and Mildred Schoneman Dennis, passed away April 10, 2021. Bruce grew up in Kingston, Saugerties, and Bath, all in NY state.
He was a Boy Scout, earning his Eagle rank.
He graduated from Haverling Central School in 1966, where he played football, swam, and ran track.
He graduated from St. Lawrence University in 1970, and subsequently earned a Masters from Elmira College.
He began his science teaching career at Bradford Central School, where he had lead roles in the faculty musical productions. He was the Vice President, Chief Negotiator and Grievance Chairman for the Bradford Teachers Association and Chief Negotiator and Grievance Chairman for the Haverling Teachers Association and was also a part of the New York State Teachers to NASA. He took early retirement for health reasons after teaching science for many years at Haverling Central School.
He enjoyed crewing on E-Scows at the Keuka Yacht Club regattas, and was the Vice President and House Manager at the Yacht Club.
He was a member of the Bath Country Club and also wrote for The Steuben Courier Advocate newspaper.
Bruce volunteered for Meals on Wheels and at the Glenn H. Curtiss Museum. Bruce is survived by his daughters, Wendy Parks of Charlotte, NC and Jennifer Dodge of New Mexico; grandsons, Westin Parks and Kameron Dodge and his sister, Bonnie Barney. Visitation will be held at Fagan's Funeral Home on Friday, April 16, 2021 from 6:00-7:00 pm with a Memorial Service to follow at 7:00 pm at the funeral home with Reverend Stanley Bhasker officiating.
