Charles D. Knapp Sr.

Charles D. Knapp Sr. (83) passed away peacefully at his son Michaels home on December 24, 2018. Charley was born April 29, 1935 in Almond, NY to Merton and Sylvia (Gurnsey) Knapp. Charley married Mary L. Woodworth on April 29, 1954 in Addison, NY. Charley and Mary were lifelong residents of Rathbone, NY, and celebrated 60 years of marriage before Marys passing in 2014. Charley was employed as a laborer for Corning Glass Works and retired in 1990 with 40 years of service.
Charley enjoyed farming and working his land, and spent countless hours on his tractor planting and harvesting crops. He loved to hunt whitetail deer and was an accurate marksman. Each Fall, family and friends would gather at his farm to hunt and share deer stories over coffee. Charley enjoyed attending the races at Woodhull Raceway, and loved a good game of Euchre. Above all, Charley loved spending time with his family. He was a hardworking, caring, and compassionate role model for his children and grandchildren, and dedicated his life to providing for them.
Charley is survived by 8 children, 19 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters, 1 brother, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his wife, Mary, parents, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters.
Per Charleys wishes, there will be no viewing or funeral services.
