Jerry Teifer, 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, 11/28/24 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Binghamton, NY with his loving family by his side.
He is predeceased by his loving wife Miriam (Vaillancourt) Teifer, parents Clyde Gerald Teifer, Sr., and Mabel (Kuster) Teifer of Trenton, MI., brother Richard (Jack) Teifer, Trenton, MI., and cousin Robert (Mary Alice) Teifer, Trenton, MI.
Jerry was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who always put his faith and family first. He had a lifetime career at the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (A&P) retiring as Director of Marketing of Eight O'Clock Coffee. He was a devout Catholic, regularly serving as Eucharistic Minister and lector as well as a daily communicant at Mass. A United States Army veteran who served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged while stationed in Arlington, VA. He attended college at Wayne State University with a focus on the fine arts; was an outdoorsman who enjoyed sharing his enthusiasm for fishing, hunting, camping, and boating with his daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren.
Jerry is survived by his six loving daughters Susan (Rick) Robinson of Binghamton, NY, Bridget (Denis) Reynolds of Almond, NY, Amy (John) Slavik of Conway, SC, Martha Squires of Canisteo, NY, Gretchen Teifer Helms of Shrub Oak, NY, Sara (Peter) Chatfield of Cornwall, NY; his beloved grandchildren: Rachel, Sara, Peter, Hilary, Natalie, Matthew, Lauren, Stephen, Lisa, and Connor as well as 13 great-grandchildren.
Viewing will begin at 9:00 A.M at St. Mary's Church, Bath, NY, on Thursday, 12/5/24, proceeded by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 A.M. Immediately following, Jerry will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Bath, NY.
