Daniel L. Prescott, age 85, of Bradford, NY, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, February 28, 2017.
He was born in Rochester, NY on August 25, 1931, the son of Norton and Laura (Calkins) Prescott.
Mr. Prescott retired from Corning Inc. in 1990 as a Steuben Glass Finisher, after 42 years of service.
He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army.
Mr. Prescott was a former member of the Bradford Volunteer Fire Department. He will be remembered as the "Bradford Mechanic" who fixed numerous residents lawn mowers and whatever needed fixing, and he designed the "Prescott Speedway" for all the neighborhood children to ride their mini bikes and go carts around.
His favorite hobbies were gardening and music.
He loved to sing and shared all different genres of music with his children, in the words from his daughter "everything from Bach to The Beatles".
In his later years, as he became more house bound, he enjoyed spending his time recording many cassette tapes that he shared with his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Kathleen (Divens) Prescott of Bradford, NY, daughter: Deborah Prescott (Rick Quibell)
of Dansville, NY, son Matthew (Pamela) Prescott of Bath, NY; three grandchildren, Brittany (Brian) Sellers, Chelsea Hester (Logan) and Emily Slayton; two great grandchildren, Xander and Southerly and three brothers, Edward, Urban and John Prescott.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Ellen, Horace, David, Wesley, Norman, Thomas and Glenn.
Visitation will be held on Saturday March 4, 2017 from 1:00-2:00 pm at Fagan's Funeral
Home, 31 West Morris St., Bath, NY with Reverend Beth Kotteman officiating.
Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm at the funeral home with Military Honors.
A meal will be offered to family and friends at the Tyrone Methodist Church following the services.
Burial will be in the Bath National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Bradford Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Bradford Volunteer Fire Department.
