Donald L. Best, 63 years old, passed away Friday, February 6, 2015 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA.
Donald was born April 26, 1951 as the oldest of 8 children to Edward and Marjorie (Dunton) Best.
Donald married Jody Overhiser June 3, 1978.
He is survived by his wife, Jody.
He is also survived by sons; Robert (Pam) Jones II, Michael (Robin) Gosper, and John (Susan) Gosper, and daughter, Shannon Jones.
14 grandchildren; Dekota (Angel) Krisher, Darnell (Katlyn) Barron, Tanika Hanmore, Robert Jones III, Rebekka Jones, Justin Jones, Adele (Jason) Mondelli,
Arron Gosper, Amanda Gosper, Phoenix Gosper, Ember Gosper, John W. Gosper, Paul Gosper and Erica Gosper.
Donald is also survived by brothers; Scott Best, Randy Best and Jamie Best and sisters; Beverly (Doug) Bergstresser and Cindy (Dave) Best. Nieces and nephews; Ben, Scottie, Stephanie, Shawn, Tommy, Alex, Kelly, Ashley, Brianna, Jake, Jill, Jayde, Jasmyn, Stacey, Jimmy, Devin, Nikki, Kiana, Derik, Danika, Jason, Stephanie, Tricia, Anthony and Briannah along with great-grandchildren; LayKota, Serenity, Ny'Ella, James, Cameron, Dillon, Jason and Sylvia.
Donald is also survived by In-laws; Carl (Shirley) Overhiser, James Overhiser II, Marion Overhiser, Doninic (Kathy) Lisi, Milton (Cindy) Evans and Joy (Dan) Goodsell.
He is pre-deceased by his parents, brother, Thomas Best and sister, Lori Dailey.
Don worked at the Bath VAMC as an EKG Tech for 30 years.
He belonged to the Savona Fire Department.
He was 2nd Assistant Chief in the 1980's.
He belonged to the Church of the Good Shepard in Savona.
He was a former member of the Campbell Legion.
He was an Army Veteran.
He attended Dundee Central School.
He lived in Savona for the past 36 years.
Visitation will be held at Fagan's Funeral Home, 31 West Morris Street, Bath, NY on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. with Fireman's Service at 7:45 p.m. and additional visitation on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. with funeral service at 4:00 p.m. at Fagan's Funeral Home.
Officiating is Reverend Lynn Sharp of the Church of the Good Shepard.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Savona Fire Department or the Church of the Good Shepard - Shepard's Cupboard.
