Douglas M. Chase, 94, of Bath, New York, passed away quietly in the hope of the resurrection on November 7.
He was born in Leroy, NY, on May 29, 1922 to the late Floyd M and Hannah Chase. His family moved to Bath when he was a child, where he continued to reside until his death.
He was predeceased by his loving first wife, Phyllis Marie (Bullman) Chase, and by his sister Barbara (Chase) Warner.
He is survived by his dear wife Donna Skelly, step son Mike Skelly and his wife Lorrie, and his surviving children: son Rev. Douglas G. Chase and his wife, Rev. Linda D. Chase of Brick, NJ; and two daughters, Diane M. Galloway and her husband Robert Galloway of Manchester, CT, and Patricia M. Chase of Raleigh, NC.
Additionally he is survived by five grandchildren and five great grandchildren, and he was noted as a loving and devoted father for whom family was everything.
He was a World War II vet, having served in the United States Coast Guard in the North Atlantic.
Following the war he returned to Bath where he established his career as a car sales manager at Perry Thompson Ford.
Active in the life of the church, he served as a Trustee and Elder at the First Presbyterian Church in Bath, NY. He was also a past member of the Rotary Club, the Elks Club, Gideons International, and a board member with Youth for Christ in Savona, NY.
Visitation will be at Fagan's Funeral home, 35 W Morris St., Bath, NY, on Friday, November 11, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. with funeral service immediately following.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the memorial fund of The First Presbyterian Church of Bath, New York.
