Elwin Chester Runner

Elwin C. Runner, 89, peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus on Friday January 5, 2018.
Born and raised in North Urbana, he was a lifelong resident of Bath, NY and actively attended Avoca Baptist Church. Elwin graduated from Hammondsport High School in 1946. He was drafted into the army near the end of
the Korean War in 1953. He served for 2 years installing radar near Boston, MA. Afterwards, he was employed at Westinghouse (Philips Lighting) for 40 years where he met and married his sweetheart.
After he retired, he enjoyed traveling to visit his children and grandchildren, even as far as Australia a couple of times! In his spare time he loved restoring his home, putting puzzles together and playing dominoes! He was sincerely dedicated to his family, his friends, and his church family.
Elwin was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Florence (Robords) Runner after 31 years of marriage. He will be sorely missed by his children Donna Runner, of Australia; Dr. Leon (Donna) Runner of NY; and Paul (Terri) Runner of Ohio. He had 4 adoring grandchildren; Jacob (Sawako) Runner, Cherilyn (Michael) Ruppel, Richard (Kelsey) Runner, and Robert (Ashley) Runner. He was also a great grandfather to Logan and Makenzie Ruppel.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Fagans Funeral Home with Pastor Bill McFeaters officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home at 1:00pm on Friday January 12 with a service to follow at 2:00pm. Burial at Nondaga Cemetery.
