Ernest "Ernie" Crooks Sr.
Ernest Crooks Sr., 71, died Thursday, May 12th, 2022, at his home in Bath, NY. Ernest was born January 20th, 1951 in Bath, NY to Orra Jr and Doretta (Hagadone) Crooks. He drove trucks for the Town of Avoca, the State and County, Pepsi and for Mercury Aircraft, up until retirement. Ernie was a devoted son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and so much more to all. To his sons, he was the BEST FATHER EVER, there was no doubt about how they felt about him or how he felt about them. He loved nothing more than his family and friends. He always showed his support to his kids and grandkids by being there for their birthdays, sporting events, dance recitals, school events, and any other activity they had or he would just come for a family cookout or to just visit, when he missed them. His kids and grandkids were the light of his life, that shined very bright, for all to see. Ernie had an absolutely amazing personality and sense of humor, which carries on with his sons. They also carry on his sense of what family means, he taught his boys that not only sharing blood made you family; Ernie would always treat anyone that came into his life as family and nothing less. Ernie enjoyed hunting, then taking his "trophies" and making them into delicious meals for his family and friends. He was an amazing cook and was always cooking something or he was baking his delicious mayonnaise cakes for birthdays, making his famous carter balls and Christmas candy at Christmas time for all. Ernie was a hard core Dallas Cowboys fan and his collection attests to that, he also collected Indian paraphernalia , but his most favorite collection was the collection on his walls, pictures of his family, that he cherished. Ernest is survived by his Companion- Linda DuBois, Brothers- Timmy, Rex and Randy Crooks, Sister- Shirley Emerson, Sons- Ernest Crooks Jr, Billy (Jennifer) Crooks and Bobby (Samantha Swarthout) Crooks, 14 Grandchildren- Delreace and Dominick Crooks, Adam and Robert Stier, Justice Crooks, Ethan Cole, Kyara, Alyssa, Peyton, and Shea Crooks, Trenten, Khloe, and Tiana Crooks and Alexia Swarthout. Great grandson- Kay'von Crooks. Along with several nieces and nephews. Ernest was predeceased by his parents and his 4 brothers- Eugene and Roy Braziel, Chuck and Darell Crooks. There are Calling Hours scheduled on Wednesday, May 18th, 2022, from 12:00pm- 2:00pm at Fagans Funeral Home- 31 West Morris Street Bath, NY. Burial is to follow at the grave site in Avoca, NY (Jacob's Ladder) in the Valley View Cemetery.
