Gene I. "Poppy" Simpson, age 70, of Bradford, NY died Friday, March 24, 2017 at Guthrie Corning Hospital.
He was born April 28, 1946 in Bradford, NY the son of the late Ivan and Sophie (Lewis) Simpson.
He graduated from Bradford Central School in Bradford, NY. Mr. Simpson was a Vietnam Army veteran.
He had worked at MJ Madisons in Bath, NY and he managed The Steuben County Farm in Bath.
He retired from Mercury Aircraft in Hammondsport, NY after 35 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia, daughter: Wendy and Mark Hatch; two sons, Paul and Reagan Simpson and Jay and Beth Simpson; grandchildren, Jonathon, Alexis and Brianna Hatch, Paul 'Magnum' and Lane Simpson and Piper and Reese Simpson, mother-in-law, Regina Parulski; sisters-in-law, Kathleen (John) Swarthout, Diane (Darryl) Shuart, Theresa Parulski and Christine (Beth An) Parulski and brother-in-law Richard (Meagan) Parulski; brothers, Butch (Vicki) Simpson, Glenn (Lori) Simpson and Neil Simpson, sister Sherry Simpson, sister-in-law, Sue Simpson and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, father-in-law, Richard Parulski and brothers, Doc Simpson and Jerry Simpson.
A Celebration of his life will be held
on Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 12:00-3:00 pm at the Bradford Fire Department. The family would like to give a special thank you to the ICU staff
at Guthrie Corning Hospital.
