George C. Hauryski, 80, of Bath, New York, passed away on September 21, 2026, in the town he called home for much of his life. Born on June 2, 1946, in Bath, the son of the late John and Mary (Zyla) Hauryski. He was known to those who loved him as a friendly and wise man whose steady presence, generous spirit, and lifelong ties to his community left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

George lived a life marked by devotion to family, hard work, and simple pleasures that brought him great joy. He retired from the Bath Post Office after 25 years of service, where he was respected for his dedication and dependability. He also worked as a Real Estate Broker for 52 years, a remarkable career that reflected both his knowledge of the area and his ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Through his work, George built many lasting relationships and earned the trust of countless individuals and families.

Beyond his professional life, George found happiness in the things that made a house feel like home. He loved taking care of animals, especially his beloved dog, Iris, and his five cats. He had a special tenderness for animals and gave them the same patience and affection that he showed to the people in his life. George was also an avid collector, with interests that included antiques, model trains, stamps, books, and games. He enjoyed the stories and history found in each treasured item, and he took pleasure in surrounding himself with things that reflected his curiosity and appreciation for the past. He especially loved to read, and books remained a constant source of comfort, knowledge, and enjoyment throughout his life.

George is survived by his daughter, Michele Hauryski; his ex-wife, Susan Hauryski; his brother, Edwin Hauryski and his wife Colleen; his sister, Betty Hanssen and her husband Dave; his nieces, Christina, Brittany, and Annie; his nephews, Alex and Matthew; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Emma, Avril, Henryk and Deliah Joy who brought joy to his extended family. He held each of them close in his heart and valued the bonds of family throughout his life.

Those who knew George will remember his kind manner, his thoughtful advice, and the quiet wisdom he shared so naturally. His life was a reminder that strength can be gentle, and that a person's greatest legacy is often found in the way he treats others.

George's passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of those who loved him, but his memory will remain a source of comfort and gratitude. He will be remembered with love, respect, and enduring affection by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Family and friends are invited to the visitation at Fagan's Funeral Home on Saturday, September 26, 2026 from 12:00-1:00 pm followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm and burial in Seaman's Cemetery, Savona, NY.
