Gilbert W. VanOrder Sr. died Monday December 10, 2018. He was born May 5, 1929 in Bath, NY the son of Frank and Minnie (Carr) Chisholm and step-father L. Edmond VanOrder (Lema).
He is survived by his wife Bertie to whom he was married for over 70 years, his sister,Bea Volz (Jim); his sons, Gilbert Jr. and Frank, his youngest son Daniel, died in 2006. Gilbert was grandpa to 11 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
Gilbert was both a Musician and Artist. His singing group performed at numerous churches and recorded an album in early 2000. His paintings won many awards, especially his nature scenes. Gilbert created over 200 beautiful oil paintings.
He was a member of Buena Vista Wesleyan Church for over 60 years. Gilbert was a man of great faith as well as a man of great humor. He enjoyed making people smile. He was universally loved by both family and friends and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at the Buena Vista Wesleyan Church in Canisteo at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 15, 2018. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in his name may be made to the Buena Vista Wesleyan Church 6034 Co Rd 69, Canisteo, NY 14823
