Gladys I. Gruber, age 98, passed away Sunday, June 29th at the home of her loving daughter Shirley Reinhart, Kanona, NY.
Gladys was born August 8, 1915 in Avoca, NY to Arnold and Edna Lyke.
She is survived by daughter Shirley Reinhart and son Bernard (Sonny) Hamblin, both of Kanona, sister, Marlene Arnold, sister-in-law, Barb Lyke; five grandchildren, Laurie (Reinhart) Galligan, Thomas 'Marty' (Cheryl)
Reinhart, Steven (Carrie) Hamblin, Kenneth Reinhart and Michele(Reinhart) Stoddard, 9 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Frank Gruber; brothers, George and Arnie Lyke; sisters, Louise Derrick, Doris Davis and Waneta Humphrey.
Gladys was a well known Cook in the area, starting out at what was known as the Greyhound Post House, Old Vienna and the Tally-Ho, well into her 80's.
Many remember her for her "Glady's" Lobster Newburg and Clam Chowder.
Gladys enjoyed playing euchre, gardening and spending time with family.
Calling hours will be TODAY July 2nd at Fagan's Funeral Home in Bath, NY from Noon-2:00 pm with funeral services following at 2:00 pm at the funeral home, with Pastor Alan Jones officiating.
Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Avoca, NY.
Memorials may be made to the Kanona Methodist Church, Steeple Fund.
