Helen Marie 'Dieter' Catchpole

Helen Marie Catchpole, age 90, of Bath, NY died Monday, October 20, 2014 at the Taylor Health Center.
She was born Helen Marie Dieter on April 7, 1924 in Wayland, NY .
Her parents were Charles Oscar Dieter and Mary Elizabeth Hughes Dieter.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Gertrude Jordan, Florence Shepard, Mabel Woohhams, Nellie Ackley, Evelyn Romataski-Buck and Charlie Dieter and her husband William T. Catchpole.
Surviving is her only son, Thomas W. Catchpole and wife Susan of Prather, CA; granddaughters, Heather J. Catchpole of San Diego, CA, Emily S.C. (Edwin IV) Simpson of Tollhouse, CA and Laura E.C. (Branden) Fuller of Volcano, CA; great grandchildren, Edwin P. Simpson V, Esther L. Simpson, Aja S. Fuller, Alexander D. Fuller and Anya R. Fuller, special niece and caregiver Betty (Phil) Donovan of Wayland, NY, and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Helen was an orphan at about age 11.
She went to school in Wayland and Bath, NY.
She left school to join the work force at an early age.
She helped with the War effort during WWII.
First she worked at the Silk Mill in Wayland, NY making parachutes.
Then she ground lenses for parascopes, at Bausch & Lomb in Rochester, NY.
She ended the war effort riveting tail sections for the P-40 fighter planes at Mercury Aircraft in Hammondsport, NY.
She married William T. Catchpole on November 30, 1945.
Helen was active at the Centenery United Methodist Church in Bath for many years teaching Sunday school and other activities.
She was a housewife and worked on the election board and took the census in 1960 and 1970.
She earned her high school equivalency in 1971.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday October 25th from 1:00-3:00 pm at Fagan's Funeral Home in Bath.
Funeral services will follow at 3:00 pm at the funeral home with Reverend Collinsworth officiating.
Burial will follow in Nondaga Cemetery, Bath.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Mrs. Catchpole's name may be made to the Centenary United Methodist, 3 W. Washington Street, Bath, NY 14810.
