Ingrid Drebert-Rettberg, a beacon of love and generosity, passed away peacefully in her home on January 10, 2024, in Bath, New York. Born on February 5, 1940, in Stettin, Germany, Ingrid's radiant spirit and kind heart touched all who knew her. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, whose selfless nature was her signature trait.
Ingrid's journey led her from her birthplace in Germany to the United States, where she embraced her new home with open arms. She graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School in Rochester, New York, and later became a proud citizen of the United States on November 9, 1993. She worked in retail management at B. Forman Company and The BonTon in Rochester.
Family was the cornerstone of Ingrid's life. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Don Rettberg, and her dear son, Bryan "Buddy" DiMaria. Her loving legacy continues through her daughters, Wendy Harrison, and Sandy Stewart (Craig). Ingrid's joy was multiplied by her grandchildren, Brent Harrison, Kyle Harrison, Elisa Berrettone, Abby Griffin (Patrick), and Lily Stewart, and her great-grandson, Murphy Griffin. She cherished every moment spent with them and instilled in them the values of unconditional love, kindness, and a zest for life.
Ingrid's zest for life was evident in her hobbies and interests. She found solace in the tranquility of her garden, the pages of a good book, and the adventures that travel brought into her life. Her passion for nurturing growth, whether in her garden or her relationships, was a testament to her caring nature.Her relatives in Germany held a special place in her heart, and she maintained close ties with them throughout her life.
