Irven C. Spear

Irven C. Spear, age 87, of Hammondsport, NY, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Saturday, December 12, 2015.
He was born August 13, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio the son of the late Irven L. and Doris (Ayers) Spear.
Mr. Spear obtained his Masters Degree from the University of Maryland.
He retired from Haverling Central School where he was a teacher and the Head of the Math and Science Department.
Mr. Spear was an accomplished Sailor with numerous trophies won.
After retirement he and his wife enjoyed traveling to Florida and sailing in the Caribbean.
He enjoyed volunteering at the Glenn Curtiss Museum.
He was loved very much by his wife of 63 years and his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Anne "Dusty" Spear, daughters, Kim Pragle and Pam Chapman and son Irven C. Spear Jr., his sister Juva (Al) Powers; grandchildren, Tara (David) Winter, Joe Wilkinson, Rodney Pragle III, Irven Pragle, Shelly Shuart, Kyle Chapman and Courtney Bertrandt and 9 great grandchildren .
At his request there will be no services.
Memorial donations in Mr. Spears name may be made to the Haverling Central School Math and Science Department or the Keuka Yacht Club.
