James E. Conant

November 10, 1952 — March 20, 2016

James Eugene Conant, 63, of Bath, NY, previously of Mt. Jewett, passed away on Sunday, March 20th after a long battle with cancer.
He was born November 10, 1952 in Kane, PA to the late Eugene and Lois (Clawges) Conant of Mt. Jewett.
He graduated from Kane Area High School in 1970 and joined the Marines and served as a Lance Corporal in the Vietnam War.
He spent most of his life as a carpenter, best known for being a wonderful craftsman and woodsman; he enjoyed creating any project with wood.
Jim was an outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and ice fishing.
He was also known for his one-of-a-kind, infectious smile, and will always be remembered as having a smile on his face and for always having a great time.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Lacy (Julian) Morales of State College, PA; sister, Connie (Dan) Carlson of Mt. Jewett; half-brother, Larry Conant (Lois) Weilacher and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his stepmother, Doreen Conant.
Being an avid member of the American Legion, his service with full military honors will be held at the Mt. Jewett Veterans Memorial Club on Saturday, April 9th at 5:00pm.
He will be laid to rest on the grounds of the Bath VA National Cemetery in Bath, NY with full military honors on Monday, April 4th at 11:00am.
