James Robert Kennedy, Jr., affectionately known as Jim, passed away on April 28, 2026, in Sayre, Pennsylvania. Born on May 23, 1955, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Jim lived a life marked by kindness, generosity, and a deep love for family and community.
A proud graduate of Syracuse University, Jim built a meaningful career dedicated to public service and community care. He devoted 25 years as a clerk at the Steuben County Department of Motor Vehicles, where his commitment and diligence left a lasting impact. Prior to that, he served as a delivery man of emergency medical supplies, traveling extensively from New Jersey across the East Coast. This role reflected his caring nature and readiness to assist others in times of need.
Jim’s passions extended beyond his career. He was an avid fan of live music and stadium concerts, a devoted supporter of Syracuse University basketball, and a loyal follower of the Yankees and Dallas Cowboys. His adventurous spirit led him on memorable drives to New Orleans for bowl games and Final Four matches—journeys he embraced with enthusiasm and joy.
Among his proudest accomplishments, Jim served as Commander of the Sons of the American Legion at Charles E. Wescott American Legion Post 173. He was also a valued member and past officer of the Bath B.P.O.E. 1547. Known for his warmth and jovial spirit, he took great delight in playing Santa Claus for local organizations and the community, bringing cheer and happiness to many.
Jim is lovingly remembered by his wife, Suzanne L. Fagan. He also leaves behind his brother Robert Kennedy and his wife Donna, as well as his sister Joann Sulzinsky. Cherished by several special nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws, Jim’s familial bonds were strong and treasured. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eileen Kennedy, and his father, James R. Kennedy.
Family, friends, and community members are invited to honor and celebrate Jim’s life at the following services held at Fagan’s Funeral Home, 31 West Morris Street, Bath, NY 14810.
