James P. Murphy, age 87, of Bath, NY died Sunday, October 28, 2012 at the Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital.
He was born December 15, 1924 in Bath, the son of John W. and Grace I. Proctor Murphy.
Mr. Murphy was retired from the Bath V.A.M.C. after serving 30 years as a Fireman and he was a World War II Army Veteran.
He and his wife Patricia celebrated 64 years of marriage on June 30, 2012.
He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Bath and he loved riding his motorcycle which he started riding while he was in his 60's.
He was the loving husband and father to Patricia McDonough Murphy; Colleen Murphy of Bath, NY, Mary Murphy of Vienna, Austria, Stephen Murphy of Rochester, NY, Robert Murphy of Oregon, William (Joan) Murphy of Ithaca, NY, Thomas Murphy of Bath, NY, Kevin Murphy of Ridgeland, SC and Timothy Murphy of Pinehurst, NC, also ten grandchildren, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son James P. Murphy and three brothers, Roy, Curtis and John Murphy.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday November 2nd from 12:00-1:00 pm at Fagan's Funeral
Home, 31 West Morris St., Bath, NY, A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Friday at 2:00 pm at the Bath VA Union Chapel with Father Pat Connor as celebrant.
Burial with Military Honors will be in the Bath National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
