An honorably discharged veteran, James served his nation with valor during the Korean War. His commitment to service continued long after his military tenure, as evidenced by his honorary membership with the Savona Fire Department. James's work history was as diverse as it was impressive, including roles as a skilled carpenter, a long-haul truck driver traversing the North American continent, and a trusted US Postal Mail Route Deliverer. His membership with the Moose Lodge in Hammondsport, NY, was a testament to his love for community and fellowship. James was also a passionate farmer, often seen driving his tractor and working the land alongside his sons, a pastime that brought him great joy and satisfaction.

He was a beloved patriarch, survived by his devoted sons, Jeffrey Winslow and Brian and his wife Valerie Winslow; his loving daughters, Sally and her husband Kenneth Robie, and Delores and her husband David Burke. James was a cherished grandfather to Lee and his wife Tammy Winslow, Gregory and his wife Angela Winslow, Erica Bailey, Reuben and his wife Rachael Robie, Emily Winslow and Sarah and her husband Gregory Moyle. His seven great-grandchildren were a source of immense pride and joy. James also leaves behind his sisters-in-law, Jane Smith and Rosamond and her husband Dale Travis, who will miss his presence dearly.
James was predeceased by his cherished wife of 60 years, Mary Ellen, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and memories. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Ellen and her husband Edward Aldridge, and Ann and her husband Dale Mullikin, as well as his brothers-in-law, Herbert and Daniel Travis, Emery Smith, and his sister-in-law Jean and her husband Kenneth Gridley. The legacy of James's kindness, strength, and integrity will live on through the family he adored and the community he served.
