Janice Audrey (Miller) Wheeler, age 82, of Bath, NY, died Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, NY.
She was born August 3, 1931 in Bath, NY the daughter of John (Jack) Morgan Stapleton and Emmaline Francis Andrews Miller.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Howard Wheeler who she married on July 23, 1955 in Hammondsport, NY, daughter, Patrica (Jeffrey) Winslow of Savona, NY and son, Theodore Wheeler of Fawn Grove, PA; four grandchildren, Shannon (Shauna) Stratton of Bath, NY, Sean (Bobi) Stratton of Avoca, NY, Julie (GT) Stratton of Bath, NY and Jonathon Stratton of San Francisco, CA; six great grandchildren, Ivan Stratton, Zachary Gee, Devin Rumsey, Andrew Lee, Rachel Lee, Sara Stratton along with several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Janice is predeceased by her mother Emmaline Miller, father Jack Stapleton, one brother, Frederick Miller; and three sisters, Avis Oplinger, Doris Newman and Clara Bennett.
Janice retired after 32 years at Bath Central School as a Food Service Worker.
She loved working at Haverling Central School where most of the students called her "Grandma" even though only 4 of them were her grandchildren.
Janice enjoyed camping, traveling, crafts and spending time with her family.
Janice loved riding on her sons, daughter's and son-in-law's motorcycles.
She was a member of the Pleasant Valley Grange for many years, where she played in the "Kitchen Band", she was on the Dairy Festival Committee for several years, and she is a past member of the VFW.
In her younger years she liked to dance, sing and walk to the neighbors where they would enjoy a cook out and fun times.
Janice would always get a conversation going and make you laugh.
She always had a smile for everyone.
Janice's favorite saying was "If I'm not having fun doing it, then I'm not going to do it!"
Janice really lived life to its fullest.
Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday November 30, 2013 from 1-3 & 5-7 pm at Fagan's Funeral
Home in Bath.
Funeral services will follow on Saturday at 7:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Barre Butts officiating.
