Jean Peacock

Jean M. Peacock, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2025, at the age of 95 in Bath, New York. Born on January 16, 1930, in Campbell, New York, the daughter of Minor and Ruby (Putman) DuVall, Jean's life was a journey of joy, commitment, and service, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and compassion that touched the hearts of all who knew her.

Jean's life was characterized by her unwavering faith and the love she had for her family. She was the cherished mother of three daughters, Diane (John) Brock of Eau Claire, WI, Patricia (Douglas) Brazie of Simpsonville, SC and Pam (Dale) Thompson. She was a proud grandmother to Tara Finholt of Rochester, MN, Karen Sweet of Simpsonville, SC, Kerry (Chris) Mosher of Painted Post, NY, Kelly (David) Beaudoin of Altoona, WI, Kimberly (Steven) Pietrzak of Simpsonville, SC, and Ryan (Megan) Thompson of Bath, NY. Her joy was further multiplied by her great-grandchildren, whom she adored: Zakari, Noelle, Holly, Owen, Noah, Sadie, Henry, Emma, Logan, Ethan, Blake, Kyla, Kase, and Clara. Jean was predeceased by her loving husband Charles, her parents, her sisters Faye Edsall and Claire Jacobs, her infant daughter Deborah, and her great-grandson Colson Thompson.

Jean's professional life was dedicated to serving her community as a Senior Clerk for the Steuben County Election Commissioner. Her work was not just a job but a reflection of her commitment to civic duty and her belief in the importance of each individual's voice. She retired with the respect and admiration of her colleagues, embodying the Christian values she held so dear throughout her life.

Upon retirement, Jean and Charles moved to Florida, where they enjoyed the warm sunshine and the pleasure of each other's company. Together, they traveled, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Jean was also an exceptional cook, known for her delicious lasagna and tossed salad, and her knitted dishcloths were cherished by those lucky enough to receive them.

Jean's life was one of connection and friendship, and she was often described as loving, kind, and friendly. She had the unique ability to make everyone feel at home, and her presence was a comforting embrace to family and friends alike.

Jean M. Peacock's life was a testament to the beauty of simplicity, the strength of faith, and the power of love. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy will continue to inspire and guide us. As we say goodbye to this remarkable woman, we take solace in knowing that her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she loved and in the kindness she shared with the world.

A Memorial Mass of christian burial will be held on November 8, 2025 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Church in Bath, NY followed by a graveside service and burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Bath.
