Jeffrey A. Smalt, known fondly as Jeff by his friends and family, passed away on November 26, 2025, at Three Rivers in Painted Post, NY. Born on September 14, 1964, in the town of Urbana, NY, Jeff's zest for life and the strength of character touched everyone who knew him. He was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Jeff's early years were filled with the love and guidance of his parents, Eugene and the late Bertha (Pierson) Smalt. His sister, Darcia Smalt, predeceased him, leaving a fond memory in the hearts of those who loved her.
He shared a blissful marriage with his wife, Susan Smalt, and together they raised a family that was his pride and joy. His children, Gabe and Michelle Smalt, Cody Smalt, and TJ and Kori Smalt, were his greatest achievements. Jeff's legacy continues through his several cherished grandchildren, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his brothers Raymond Smalt and Gregg and Holly Havens and several nieces and nephews.
Jeff was a respected member of the community, retiring as a lineman from Bath Electric, Gas, and Water Systems. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to own and operate Stoney Acres Country Market in Bath with Susan, where they served the community with dedication and warmth.
An avid hunter and skilled woodworker, Jeff found tranquility in nature and joy in creating. His strong will was evident in everything he pursued, and he instilled this determination in his family. Above all, Jeff cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and family, recognizing that "The love of a family is life's greatest blessing."
Jeffrey A. Smalt lived a life full of purpose and love, and though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will continue to inspire us. His was a life well-lived, and his memory will be treasured forever.
A Celebration of his life will be held Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 1 pm at Stoney Acres Country Market.
