John C. Bloom

John Bloom, 85, passed away peacefully at his home on September 1, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Corning, New York, the son of Frank and Louise Bloom. He graduated from Northside High School. He was a member of The International Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners. He was also a member of The American Legion. John is predeceased by his parents, his wife, Ruby Bloom, his daughter, June Belknap, his two sisters Marjorie Burdick and Sandra Skelly, a niece Kim Dixon and his K9 son Ralph. He is survived by his daughters, Carole (Steven) Shoemaker, Tammy (Bobby Jaynes) Voorheis, Darlene Phillips, Angel (David) Hamilton, son Richard (Jennifer) Archer, 5 nieces and one nephew. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and one great great grandson all of which he was so proud. John lived his life for all of the people he loved. John's life was a testament to the values of hard work, dedication and the simple joys of life. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. His passion for nature was only matched by the love he had for his family. John's happiest moments were those spent with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren sharing stories and creating memories. He was a mentor to many, teaching the finer points of casting a line or tracking a deer, but more importantly, imparting the wisdom of patience and cherishing every moment. His signature smirk and low key chuckle were the center of every family gathering and his presence was a comforting constant in the lives of those he loved. John's commitment to his family was paramount, and he was happiest when surrounded by his loved ones. He relished the opportunity to share his interests with his family and friends. To know him was to love him. John will be greatly missed by all of the friends and family he influenced in his life. Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday September 14, 2024 from 2:00-4:00 pm at Fagan's Funeral Home in Bath. A memorial service will follow at 4:00 pm at the funeral home.
