John O. Payne, age 61, of Bath, NY, died Saturday, October 13, 2012 at the Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital, Bath, NY.
He was born in Hornell, NY November 1, 1950, the son of Grover and Dorothy Stiles Payne.
He was employed at Philips Lighting Company in Bath.
He was a Vietnam Army and Navy veteran. John was an exceptional musician and had a true love of country music.
He was known by many for his talent of music which he shared by entertaining at many places locally.
He is survived by his wife Teresa (Cogswell) Payne of Bath; two daughters, Angela Gucciardo of Bath, NY and India Payne of Denver, CO; grandchildren Roger Rinker, Michael Gucciardo, and Rachael Gucciardo and six siblings.
He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Gloria.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday October 18th at 1:00 pm at the Bath VA Chapel with Reverend Marcellenus Uwandu as celebrant.
Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Bath National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in John's name may be made to the Taylor Health Center Activity Fund, 7571 Route 54, Bath, New York 14810.
