Joseph B. Finan, age 85, of Painted Post, NY died July 7, 2016 at the Guthrie Corning Hospital.
He was born July 24, 1930 in New Albany, PA, the son of Joseph B. and Elizabeth (Litzelman) Finan.
Mr. Finan was a two year veteran of the US Army.
He worked at Mercury Aircraft for a few years and retired from Corning Glass after 30 plus years of service. He was a member of the Bradford Volunteer Fire Department and St. Stanislaus Church and the Parish Council in Bradford.
Mr. Finan was a Boy Scout Leader and also volunteered at the Food Pantry.
His greatest joy was watching kids grow and seeing them succeed in education.
He was always there for his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Joan M.(Worthington) Finan, son Shawn Finan and partner John McAllister of Painted Post, NY, daughter, Kathleen (Vaughn) Drake
of Canisteo, NY, grandchild Devon and sister, Amelia Finan.
He was predeceased by his parents, son Joseph Bernard Finan III, grandson Clay and sisters, Dolores Jerkes, Eleanor Rofe and Rosanne Terkoski.
Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 from 1:00-3:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm at Fagan's Funeral Home in Bath.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday July 13th at 11:00 am at St. Stanislaus Church, Bradford, NY with Father Pat Connor as celebrant.
Burial with Military Honors will follow in Seamans Cemetery, Savona.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Mr. Finan's name may be made to the Roo Reading Program, checks payable to Winfield PTA, Winfield Elementary School 193 Winfield St. Corning, NY 14830 or Clay P. Drake Memorial Scholarship Fund, ServU FCU, 10 Taylor St. Hornell, NY 14843.
