Laverne "Bud" Marvin, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025, at the age of 87 in Rochester, NY. Born on Christmas Day in 1938 in Bath, NY, Bud lived a life marked by service, dedication, and an unwavering love for his family and community.
Bud is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Sarah Tucker Marvin, and their loving children: Christopher (Billie Jo) Marvin of Red Level, Alabama; Cindy Fodor of Buffalo, NY; Deanna Graunke (Rick Bradley) of Canandaigua, NY; Scott (Elaine) Marvin of Key West, FL; Daniel (Dorothy) Marvin of Bath, NY; Kelly (Greg) Partridge of Bath, NY; and Boone (Courtney) Marvin of Avoca, NY. His brothers Neltson and Robert Marvin and sister Margaret Hamilton predeceased him, and we trust they are now reunited in eternal peace.
Before his retirement, Bud was the proud owner and operator of Marvin's Appliance in Bath, NY. He was well-respected in the business community, known for his integrity and work ethic. A patriot at heart, Bud served his country as an Air Force veteran, a chapter in his life that deeply influenced his dedication to service.
Bud's interests and community involvement were as rich and varied as his life. A Civil War enthusiast, he was an active Civil War Skirmisher with the 149th NYVI, a role that allowed him to combine his love for history with his passion for education. As a founding member of the Legion Riders and a past member of the Charles E. Wescott American Legion Post 173, Bud exemplified the spirit of camaraderie and patriotism. His commitment to his fellow service members continued through his involvement with the Patriot Guard and AM Vets.
Always eager to give back, Bud immersed himself in numerous community activities, leaving a lasting impact on the town he called home.
Bud Marvin's life story is not just one of personal achievement, but of the love he held for those around him. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his memory will be cherished forever in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.
Burial and services with military honors will be held at the Bath National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
