Mabel A. Mason, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, in Savona, NY. Born on September 11, 1940, in Corning, NY, Mabel's journey through life was marked by her unwavering kindness and the joy she brought to those around her. She was a beloved mother, stepmother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, whose memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
Mabel's family was the cornerstone of her life. She is survived by her loving daughter, Susan (Theo) Morse of Zephyrhills, FL; stepdaughter, Susan Maine of Largo, FL; stepsons, James (Kathy) Mason and Tim (Traci) Mason. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Bambi (Chad) Jones, Brad (Jordan) Jones, and Chad Jones; her great-grandchildren, Danisha (Dale) Beers, Courtney Blodgett, Meghan (Jaycob) Blodgett, Daven (Saige) Blodgett, Ruthyanne (Isaac) Jones, Skyler Jones, Maddie and McKenna Nichols, Colton Jones, and Clairalyn Jones; and her great-great-grandchildren, Aubree and Bentley Beers, Wyatt and Wrenda Parulski, and Hudson Blodgett. Mabel will also be fondly remembered by her brother, John (Beverly) Bunn of Virginia, her sister Betty Oliver of Risingville, NY, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Mabel in death were her husbands Clarence Hyde and Robert Mason Sr., her mother, Ruth King; father, Roy Earl Bunn; stepfather, Zora King, brother, Gerald Bunn; sisters, Mary Fulkrod and Sandra King; stepsister, Mary Herrick; stepbrother, Charles King; stepdaughters, Annie Langman and Kelly Mason; and stepson, Robert Mason Jr. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is reunited with them in eternal peace.
Mabel's working years were spent at the Bath V.A.M.C., where she retired after many years of dedicated service. Mabel's love for teaching was evident as she cherished the moments spent teaching her great great granddaughter Aubree how to read, write, and sing songs, leaving a legacy of education and joy.
An avid crafter and gardener, Mabel found solace and happiness in the beauty of nature and the creation of art. Her interests took her on many adventures, from savoring footlongs and upside-down banana splits at Emmie's to embarking on countryside rides and rock hunting on backwoods that filled her heart with peace. She had a particular fondness for shopping for bling at her favorite stores, including Christmas Tree Shop, Home Goods, Hobby Lobby, TJ Maxx, and the Windmill.
As we bid farewell to Mabel A. Mason, we celebrate the beautiful tapestry of her life, woven with love, kindness, and creativity. Her spirit will forever guide and inspire us, as her memory lives on as a treasured presence in the lives she touched. Mabel's light will continue to shine brightly in our hearts, reminding us of the joy and beauty she brought into the world.
Burial will be in Grove Cemetery, Bath, NY at a later date.
