Marcia K. States

Marcia Kathryn States passed away on February 23, 2021 after a long and feisty fight with cancer.
Marcia was born June 23rd 1952 in the town of Bath, NY to Nelson and Lilah Bronson States.
She graduated from Haverling Central High School, class of '71, Corning Community College, and attended the New School of Art, Toronto, Canada.
Over the years she lived and worked in Syracuse and Rochester before returning to the beautiful Finger Lakes.
Marcia was an accomplished artist and student of local history.
She was a born comedian who will be remembered for her humor, snappy comebacks, and hilarious escapades.
Marcia is survived by sisters Sharon (John) Stevens, Margie Guerin, Marcelle States (Larry Parshall) and Suzanne States; sister-in-law Rosemary States; brother Leslie States (Bevelyn); nieces Melissa Guerin, Jeanne (Drinald) Bilcari, Sarah (Benjamin) States-Hunt, Natalie States and Valerie States; nephews Hylen Guerin, LaVerne Guerin, Fred (Donna) Stevens and Benjamin States.
She took great pleasure in the lives and antics of her great-nieces and nephews Silvana, Estella, Jackson, Aleksia, Vangjel and Gideon.
Marcia is predeceased by her parents, sister Sandra States, brother David States, and brothers-in-law Harley Guerin and David Turner.
Marcia is also survived by many cousins and lifelong friends.
Marcia expressed great appreciation for the excellent and loving care she received at Falck Cancer Center, Elmira, NY; from Dr. Werner Brammer and all at Keuka Family Practice; oncologist Dr. Sajeena Geevarghese of the University of Rochester; Drs. Bylund, Chowdry and Stilton; Taylor Health and Ira Davenport Hospital, and all the kind hospice volunteers and workers who cared for her at life's end.
Per Marcia's wishes no funeral service will be held.
The family will hold a private memorial at a later date.
