Mark
Mangano
October 28, 1952 – April 5, 2026
Mark Patrick Mangano, 73, passed peacefully at Strong Memorial Hospital on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026 after a short illness.
Born in Buffalo on October 28, 1952 to Dr. Michael Mangano DDS, and Mary (Garofalo) Mangano Miner. Mark's family relocated to Bath, NY after his father accepted a position with the Bath VA Medical Center.
The youngest of four children, Mark attended St. Mary's School in Bath, and graduated from Haverling Central School in 1970. He was a loving husband and father. He leaves behind his wife, Diane (DeeDee)Mangano (née Hamilton); one daughter, Laura Rose Stevenson (Jamie), a son, Jack Michael Mangano, a stepdaughter Nikki (Scheman) Kucharek (Matt), two grandchildren, Madison Rose Eighmey (Jacob), Kyler Giovanni Stevenson, and a new great-granddaughter, Gianna Rose Eighmey. Two step-grandchildren, Bailey Kucharek (Alyssa), and Elijah Kucharek. Mark also leaves his beloved oldest sister, Michele Lokken (Ed), and his older brother, Michael Mangano (Denise). He was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Marilyn Towne (Bill), and late wife, Patricia Mangano (née Nadonley). Mark will be dearly missed by his precious pups Bob and Cherry, and many nieces, nephews, and other close friends and family members.
Mark was drawn to the medical sciences from a young age, and decided to pursue work in the medical field. He worked as a medical technician for many years; eventually landing in pharmaceuticals with both Wyeth, and Pfizer; where he retired from his long career in the medical sciences in a leadership management role. Mark was a parishioner and member of the Vestry at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Bath NY. His faith was very important to him.
Mark leaves behind a host of friends that will dearly miss his dry sense of humor that always had those around him chuckling.
Having moved to Bath NY at the age of three, Mark considered himself a native of the Finger Lakes. He loved sailing, and crewed on Class E Scows at the Keuka Yacht Club during his high school years; as a young adult he enjoyed boating on Seneca Lake with his family. Mark loved playing the piano and was in a small "garage" rock band in his late teens. He loved progressive rock and listening to The Grateful Dead. It was later in life that Mark discovered the game of golf. He rarely passed up an opportunity to spend time playing on a sunny day. He also rarely turned down a dessert, a habit that stayed with him until the very end.
Mark was taken too quickly and too soon. He will be missed by many, but those who mourn his passing will celebrate the time we've had with him.
A simple communion celebration service will be held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Bath NY where his cremains will be interred in their columbarium at the convenience of the family. Donations in lieu of flowers can be sent to the SPCA of the Finger Lakes, Inc. as Mark was an avid animal lover.
