Mary Theresa Latour

Mary Theresa Ryan Latour, 92, of Bath, NY, died peacefully at Harriet Taylor Health Center Thursday, September 27, 2018. Mary was born September 21, 1926, in Cohoes, NY. She was the daughter of Philip Ryan and Catherine Reynolds.
Mary attended nursing school at Russell Sage college in Troy, NY and got her first nursing job at Sunmount Veteran Administration Hospital in Tupper Lake, NY. There she met her husband-to-be, Gordon Latour. They were married May 27, 1950 and relocated to Bath in 1952 where she was a nurse at Ira Davenport Hospital and then worked as a nurse for Dr. Chapman. She was a devoted and loving mother who was proud of her family and loved cooking, baking, knitting, and crocheting.
Mary was known for her feisty, yet good sense of humor. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gordon of 51 years of marriage, and her parents, brother Philip Ryan and sister Kathryn Ryan Furlong and sister-in-law Eleanor Bailey. She is survived by four children David (Nancy) Latour of Bath, NY; Bruce (Barbara) Latour of Medina, OH; Mike (Janet) Latour of Corning, NY; and Steve (Meg) Latour of Daniel Island, SC. There are four grandchildren Ryan (Todd) of Medina, OH, and their two daughters Samantha and Reese, Christopher Latour, North Royalton, OH; Brian Latour, Johns Island, SC; and Lauren Latour, Mt. Pleasant SC.
There will be memorial Mass at St. Marys Church, Bath, NY, Friday, October 5, 2018, at 11:00am followed by a graveside service at Bath National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials can be given in her memory to the Alzheimer Association (alz.org), Harriet Taylor Health Center Activities Fund, 7571 State Rte 54, Bath, NY 14810, or a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Harriet Taylor Health Center for care given to her for the past three years.
