Mellissa S. Dunham, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2024, at the age of 75 in Bath, NY. Born on July 17, 1948, in Avoca, NY, Mellissa was a beacon of light and warmth to all who knew her, illuminating the lives of many with her creativity and kindness.
Mellissa's life was one of active engagement and service, as evidenced by her dedicated involvement with the Women's Auxiliary at the Waterloo American Legion Warner-VanRiper Post 435.
Artistically gifted, Mellissa was an imaginative soul whose creative designs brought beauty to the world around her. Her artistic talents were not only a source of personal joy but also a gift she shared freely, leaving a legacy of beauty in her wake.
She is survived by her son, Shannon and his wife Becky Fairbrother; her grandchildren, Natosha Ward, Bryce Bradeen, Artesia, Nichole, and Shadow Fairbrother; and her cherished great-grandchildren, C.J., Timber, Jaylen, Autem, Colen, Paisley, Braxton, Skyla, Cadence, and Chasen. She also leaves behind, her sister, Bonnie, and her husband Steve Shaver; her sister-in-law, Annamae Drake; as well as several treasured nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her dear son Curtis Fairbrother, her parents, Mervin and Pearl (Hemus) Drake; brothers Henry and Montie Drake, and sisters Terry Ruiz, Mona Nash, and Mollie Stryker, Mellissa now joins her loved ones in eternal rest.
Mellissa S. Dunham's life story is one of love, creativity, and service. Her legacy is one that will be honored and celebrated by all who were touched by her remarkable spirit. As we bid farewell to Mellissa, we take comfort in knowing that her light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those she loved.
