Robert D. Atanesian
July 17, 1928 — April 14, 2012
Robert D Atanesian, 83, a lifetime resident of Bath NY, passed away
unexpectedly on April 14, 2012, with his family at his side.
Bob was born in Bath NY on July 17, 1928. He was the son of George Z. Atanesian and Mary (Hess) Atanesian. He is survived by his sister Lucia Brown of Bath NY, and predeceased by two sisters Armenette Christie and
Doris Foster.
He was the loving husband of Donna Atanesian, who celebrated 59 years of
life together, father of Ron Atanesian (Nina) of Sciota, PA,
Tom Atanesian (Monika and their son Nikolas) of Durham, NC, and Jan Atanesian of
Liverpool, NY.
Upon graduation from Haverling High School, Bob started a lifelong commitment to country and community when he entered the USMC, serving two tours of duty in China and the Phillipines during WWII and the Korean War.
His service continued as a charter member of the Bath Ambulance Corp for 13 years. Bob was also a 50 plus year veteran of the Bath Fire Dept of which he was still an active member, answering the call 24 hours a day.
Bob retired from Taylor Wine after more than 30 years. He and Donna then started their retired life by spending winters in Winter Haven, FL.
Viewing hours will be held at the Fagan Funeral Home in Bath on Thursday from 6 to 8. A calling hour on Friday will be at 1 to 2 with funeral service immediately following at 2 pm at the funeral home with Reverend David Wolcott officiating.
A graveside ceremony will be held at the Bath National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to:
Bath Volunteer Fire Department, Bath Volunteer Ambulance Corp, or The Salvation Army.
