Robert Turissini, 83, of Hammondsport, NY passed away March 26, 2014.
Bob was born in Peckville, PA, graduated from Blakely High School and earned an engineering degree from the Pennsylvania State University in 1951.
He joined the Corning Glass works in 1951, served two years in the US Army, and then returned to Corning.
His 37-year career with Corning Glass Works included a number of glass technology and production supervisory positions, and plant management positions.
In 1965, he was appointed manufacturing manager of Vidros Corning do Brasil in Sao Paulo and later that same year was named Managing Director.
In 1969, Bob became a Vice President of Corning International and for the remainder of his career handled activities in Corning Latin America/Asia Pacific.
In 1988, Bob retired as a Senior Vice President of Corning Glass Works.
Bob was active in many community activities, including serving as a Director of Catholic Charities of Steuben County, Chairman of the Keuka Lake Association, Trustee of the Glenn Curtis Museum, and Director of Diocese of Rochester Stewardship Council and Diocesan Investment Council.
Bob had a zest for life and a real love of people.
He loved Keuka Lake and enjoyed watersports and was an avid downhill skier.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Liz, and his three sons, David (Amy) of Leawood, KS; Jim (Renee) of Maumee, OH, and Carl (Sharon) of Winchester, MA.
He is the beloved grandfather of Kevin, Brian, Alex, Gregory, Evan, Cole and Julia.
Funeral Mass will be held at St Michael's Catholic Church, Penn Yan, NY on Saturday, March 29 at 9:30 am.
Interment will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, in Hammondsport, NY.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Catholic Charities of Steuben County, 23 Liberty Street, Bath, NY 14810.
