Ryan Stuart Muller, 32, of Bath, passed away on Wednesday, December 24th. He was born on March 24th, 1982, to Steven and Nancy Muller. He graduated from Haverling High School in 2000 and then received his Bachelor's degree from Virginia Tech. As a young man, he enjoyed playing sports and making countless friends-he was often the life of the party. His sense of adventure led him to spend six months as a crew member on a water taxi in the Virgin Islands and to plunge fearlessly into business ownership while living in Central Florida. An avid artist, writer, reader, and critical thinker, he spent many hours engrossed in creative work. He was extremely devoted to his family, forming deep and special bonds with many of his relatives. He showed great strength and courage for the last ten years of his life as he faced increasing mental illness. He is survived by his father Steven and wife Kriggy Porter, of Hammondsport, and his mother Nancy and husband Ernie Angle, of Ellenton, Florida; by his brothers Douglas, of Accord, New York, and David, of Washington, D.C.; by his grandmother Janet Campbell, of Fountain Hills, Arizona; by his aunts and uncles Sue and Bob Bennett, of Bath, Patricia and Peter Lauzze, of Bath and Sarasota, Florida, Susan and Tom Knapp, of Charleston, South Carolina, and Lori and Gary Wheeler, of Peoria, Arizona; and by eight cousins. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents Barbara and Turk Muller, of Bath, and Stuart Campbell, of Hammondsport. Friends and family will gather in the spring for a celebration of his life. In lieu of flowers or donations, please consider contacting your elected officials to encourage them to strengthen the support framework for those suffering from mental illness.
