Shirley Ann Edsall,
82, of Campbell, NY died suddenly on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Guthrie Corning Hospital.
Shirley was born January 16, 1933 in Bath, NY, the daughter of Otis and Marjorie Phillips Edsall.
Shirley was a graduate of Campbell Central High School in 1950, she had a Bachelors and Masters Degree from SUNY Albany and earned her PhD in library science at Indiana University.
Shirley started her teaching career at Campbell Central School then taught at Corning Community College, the University of Michigan and SUNY Buffalo Graduate Library School.
She was head librarian at the Corning Community College.
She was Director of Learning Resources at the United Health Services in Johnson City.
She retired in 1988.
In 1993 Shirley joined the Watson Homestead staff as Elderhostil Coordinator.
When she died she was Thurston Town Historian.
She was docent of Corning Museum of Glass and Rockwell Museum.
She was a past president of the Corning Area Retired Teachers Assoc.
Shirley was a member of Clionian and Painted Post Historical Society, she
volunteered
at the Patterson Inn, the Dormann Library and the Bath VA Center's recreation department, and was awarded volunteer of the year twice.
She was a master gardener.
She was an active member of the Thurston Senior Citizens and Bone Builders of Campbell.
She was predeceased by her parents and brothers Gerald and Richard Edsall.
She will be greatly missed by a large number of loving relatives and dear friends.
Family and friends may call at Fagan's Funeral Home in Bath, NY on Monday August 31, 2015 from 1:00-3:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm with a rosary recitation at 8:00pm.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday September 1st at 11:00 am at St. Joseph's Church in Campbell with Father Patrick Connor as celebrant.
Burial will follow in St. Catherine's Cemetery, Addison, NY.
