Shirley J. Reinhart

Shirley Joyce Reinhart, 85 of Kanona, NY passed away to join loved ones and lifelong friends in Heaven on June 3, 2021. Her new, spiritual life began following exceptional care at U of R's Strong Memorial Hospital for an extended illness.
Born in Wheeler, NY to Millard and Gladys Lyke (Gruber) Hamblin on March 15, 1936 at her grandparent's (Ray and Bertha) stone house on Hemlock Road, Shirley enjoyed much of her youth on their farm. She attended Prattsburg and Kanona schools, completing her studies and graduating from Haverling Central School in 1954.
She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas A. of 50 years, brother Bernard (Sonny) Hamblin, grandparents, aunts and uncles.
Shirley and Tommy spent the early years of their marriage building their home and family. A devoted wife, homemaker and caregiver, she was an active member of the Kanona Methodist Church and a founding member of the Fire Bells; the ladies auxiliary arm of the Kanona Fire Department. She joined Haverling Central School as a lunch lady' in 1970, and for 30 years churned out countless cookies, cakes and desserts for the school lunch program. She would be frequently seen plating pies, cakes and desserts for Kanona Fire Department and Kanona Church dinners. Gods love shone through Shirley to all whom she engaged. Her meticulously kept flowerbeds were an outpouring of that love. She was adored by many.
Shirley leaves behind four heartbroken children; Laurie (Reinhart) Galligan, Thomas Marty' (Cheryl Ambrosone) Reinhart, Kenneth (Kate) Reinhart, and Michele (Reinhart) Stoddard; 8 Grandchildren; Heidi (Greg) Crooker, Angela Galligan, Rachel A. And Thomas J. Reinhart, Lindsie (Eric) Meese, Lydia Buck, Justin (Rachel) Stoddard and Blake Stoddard; 10 Great Grandchildren; Lauren, Carter, Kennedy, Porter, Olivia, Trentyn, Jaedyn, Harper, Rainey, Taebrey and beloved nephew Stephen. She spent many of her later years purchasing and wrapping Christmas presents for which she is fondly remembered by the recipients.
Calling hours will be held at Fagans funeral home in Bath, New York on Wednesday, June 9th from 11 to 2 o'clock with services following. The family invites friends and relatives to a reception at Fellowship Hall, Kanona Methodist Church immediately after.
In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution in Shirley's name may be made to Kanona Methodist Church, Kanona, NY 14856
