Sophia B. Baxter, 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 21, 2017.
Sophia was born on July 16, 1924, in Coalport, PA and was a lifelong resident of Bath, NY.
She loved the outdoors, gardening and feeding the birds.
She is survived by four children, Christine (Walter) Zerrahn, Michael (Beverly) Baxter, James (Suzanne) Baxter and Kathleen (Paul) Schwetz; five grandchildren, Todd (Sheri) vonHagn, Brian (Dorothy) Schwetz, David (Julie) Schwetz, Christopher (Christine) Haaker and Michael (Vanessa) Necolettes; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Sophia was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Rosalie (Ropiak) Zawrotny, her husband Shirley D. Baxter; four brothers, John, Stanley, Frank and Joseph Zawrotny and three sisters, Stephania, Anne and Anna.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, January 26th at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Church, 32 East Morris St. Bath, NY. An 11:00 am funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated following the calling at St. Mary's Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made for a Mass or to a charity of one's choice, in her name.
