Stephen Wightman, a devoted father, beloved grandfather, and treasured friend, passed away unexpectedly on May 24, 2025, at the age of 60. His sudden passing has left a deep void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Born in Urbana, New York, on July 27, 1964, Stephen was known for his strength, resilience, and unwavering love for his family. Throughout his life, he faced challenges with courage, humor, and a steadfast determination to provide for and support those he loved most.
Stephen’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his children: Hannah Morrow (David Morrow), Jesselyn Wightman, Robert Wightman, and Elizabeth Wightman. He was a proud grandfather to Gabriel, Evelyn, Conner, Charlie, James, and Benjamin. Stephen’s laughter, kindness, and wisdom will forever echo in the lives of those he leaves behind.

Stephen is now reunited in peace with his sister Patricia Shoemaker, his parents Evelyn and Robert Wightman, and his best friend Maverick, who preceded him in death.
A memorial service to celebrate Stephen’s life will be held at the Campbell Legion on June 8th, at 1pm and the burial will be at the Bath VA for immediate family at a later date. For the memorial we ask for you to wear your Hawaiian shirts. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Second Chance Animal Sanctuary, in honor of Stephen’s giving spirit and the lives he touched.
Though his passing was unexpected, Stephen’s legacy of love, strength, and perseverance will continue to inspire those who knew him. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
