Obituary

Sue L. Sprague, 82, of Hammondsport, passed away on April 19, 2026 at St. James Hospital in Hornell with her family by her side. She was born in Wellsboro, PA on April 19, 1944, and was the daughter of Frank G. and Gwendolyn (Allis) Kropp.

Sue was a 1962 graduate of Haverling Central School in Bath, NY. She was employed at Hammondsport Central School for 10 years as the payroll clerk and then with Frey & Campbell for 15 years until she retired. Sue served on the Village of Hammondsport's Zoning Board of Appeals for 4 years and also worked at the Fred & Harriett Taylor Memorial Library reading and doing crafts with the children.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reginald Earl "Reggie" Sprague; brothers and sisters, Gaile (late William) Jourden, Dean Kropp and Lynn Kropp; a nephew, Dennis Kropp and niece, Nanette Jourden.

Sue is survived by her children, Scott Sprague (Tara DeSalvo) and Deborah (Richard) Drain; grandchildren, Sydney (Adam) Ginsburg, Lauren Sprague, Madison Sprague (Nigel Snyder), Cameron Drain and Colin Drain; sisters-in-law, Janice "Jan" Kropp and Margaret "Peg" Kropp; and niece and nephew, Lauren "Lauri" (Charles "Bub") Robords and William P. "Bill" Jourden as well as her canine companion, Lily.

Relatives and friends are invited to Fagan's Funeral Home, 31 W. Morris St., Bath on Saturday, May 2 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with a light reception immediately following from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Glenwood Club. A private inurnment will take place at Pleasant Valley Cemetery at a later time at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Glenn H. Curtiss Museum,
8419 NY-54, Hammondsport, NY 14840 or to the Fred & Harriett Taylor Memorial Library, 21 William St, Hammondsport, NY 14840. Fagan's Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
