Susan Mary Thompson, passed away on January 13, 2026, in her hometown of Bath, NY, where she was born on June 13, 1959. Her life was a tapestry of unwavering friendship, and a career marked by dedication and service.
Susan spent her professional life at Jones Smoke Shop, where she became a beloved figure over her 32-year tenure, retiring as the respected manager. Her work ethic and amiable nature made her not just a colleague but a cherished friend to many in the community.
A devoted mother, Sue's world revolved around her sons, Cory (Jennifer) Thompson and Matthew Thompson, both of Bath, NY. Her joy multiplied with the arrival of her three grandchildren, Payson, Sophie, and Finn. The bond she shared with her family was unbreakable, and her presence in their lives was a source of constant love and inspiration.
Sue's legacy is also carried on by her sisters, Paula (Tom) Dye and Sharon (Dan) Kryman, her nieces, nephews, and her best friend, Gene Galligan, all of whom she shared countless cherished moments with. Although predeceased by her parents, Paul G. and Mary Jane (Chase) Gleason, the values they instilled in her shone brightly throughout her life. The father of her children, John Thompson, remains a testament to their shared dedication to their family.
Her interests painted the picture of a woman who found joy in life's simple pleasures. Sue was an avid sports fan, with a passion for football and NASCAR, often gathering with friends and family for game days and races. But perhaps Sue will be best remembered for her culinary talents, especially her holiday cookies and treats that were eagerly anticipated by all who knew her.
Sue's nature was truly friendly and kind, traits that she embodied every day. Her warmth could light up a room, and her generosity knew no bounds. She was the epitome of the phrase "a friend to all," and her absence will be felt deeply by those whose lives she touched.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation on Friday January 23, 2026 from 3:00-4:00 pm at Fagan's Funeral Home followed by a Memorial Service at 4:00 PM.
