Murray
September 11, 1953 – April 12, 2026
Virgle Monroe Murray, passed away at home on April 12, 2026, in Corning, New York, at the age of 72.
He was born on September 11, 1953, in Richlands, Virginia, the son of Henry V. and Geneva (Ray) Murray. Virgle was a man who earned the respect of others through his steady presence, his thoughtful nature, and the way he approached life with both practicality and heart.
Virgle worked as a contractor, a career that reflected his strong work ethic and his ability to build and repair with skill and care.
He was also a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, and his service to his country remained an important part of his identity.
Virgle enjoyed fishing, and he found peace and satisfaction in time spent near the water. He especially cherished spending time with his grandsons. Being with them brought him great joy, and he valued the moments they shared. Whether through conversation, laughter, or simply being together, those times became treasured memories for him and for them.
He is survived by his wife, Penny (Tillotson) Murray; his daughter, Tina (Michael) Thompson; his son, Virgle "Jimmy" James Murray; his grandsons, Jordan and James; and his siblings, Jackson Murray, Dan Murray, Frances (Dave) Clark, Rosa (Dave) Bosche, and Patricia Bailey. Each of them held a special place in his life, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
