Walter S. Dowdle

Walter S. Dowdle, age 64, of Bath, NY, died Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at the Bath Veterans Administration Medical Center, Bath, NY.
He was born in Bath, NY the son of Maurice and Betty Davidson Dowdle.
Walt was a member of the V.F.W. Post 1470 in Bath, the Bath Rod and Gun Club, N.R.A. and the Hammondsport American Legion Post 407.
He was also a past instructor of the Hunter's Safety Course.
Walt was an US Army Veteran of Vietnam and a Purple Heart Recipient.
He retired as manager of Care Lines from the Bath VAMC after 28 years of service.
He is survived by his wife Terry A.(Patton) Dowdle of Bath; three sons, Walter R.'Tige' Dowdle of Bakersfield, CA, Greg B.(Tammy) Dowdle of Penn Yan, NY and Brock Alan Dowdle of Bath, NY granddaughter, McKenzie Dowdle of CA; two sisters, Linda Dowdle of Bath, NY and Susan Thompson of Dundee, NY; two brothers, David Dowdle of Bath, NY and Gary Dowdle of TN and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call at Fagan's Funeral Home on Sunday June 17th
from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held on Monday June 18th at 10:00 am at the Bath VA Union Chapel with Chaplin Linda Liebhart officiating.
Burial will follow in the Bath National Cemetery with full military honors.
A celebration of Walter's life will be held following the graveside services at Hickory Hill Campsite, Bath, NY.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations towards a scholarship fund for Walter's son Brock may be made to Terry A. Dowdle, 7653 County Road 13, Bath, NY 14810.
