William A. "Switch" Aleksivich, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on November 17, 2025, at the age of 80 in Bath, NY. Born on September 11, 1945, in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, William's journey was marked by his wit, intelligence, and the love he held for his family and friends.
William is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Mary Church Aleksivich, and their two loving children, Brian (Kori) Aleksivich and Laura (Stephen) Barondeau. He was a proud grandfather to Bryce, Benjamin, and Samantha. He also leaves behind his brother, Ron (Bonnie) Aleksivich, as well as his brothers-in-law, Gene (Leslie) Church and Bob (Abbie) Church, and sister-in-law, Rita (Leonard) Corvelli, along with several nieces and nephews. William was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Sylvia (Olsen) Aleksivich.
William was a respected Optician where he was employed by Twin Tiers Eye Care in the years leading up to his retirement. His service to his country as an Army Medic during the Vietnam War spoke to his courage and sense of duty, qualities that he carried throughout his life.
William's interests were a reflection of his vibrant character. He was a longtime member of the Bath Country Club and the Bath B.P.O.E. 1547 (PER). An avid New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills fan, he found joy in the highs and lows of each season. William also enjoyed golfing, a game that mirrored his patience and strategic thinking, and he was known for his competitive yet friendly poker games.
Known for his quick wit and humor, William could light up any room with his laughter. Yet, it was his love for his wife, children, and grandchildren that truly defined him.
William's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his legacy of love, laughter, and wisdom will continue to live on. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a man who made a lasting impression on the world, not just for what he did, but for who he was.
