IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William F.
Shults
April 29, 1946 – March 29, 2026
William F. Shults, affectionately known as Bill, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026, in his hometown of Bath, New York. Born on April 29, 1946, in Bath, NY. Bill lived in San Francisco/ Bay area of California for 20 years learning his craft of woodworking and music, meeting many famous people that gave him a lifetime of knowledge and expanded his life experience.
Bill was a professional woodworker who lent his talents to numerous contractors over the years. His dedication to the trade was marked by a commitment to quality and a passion for creating lasting works in wood. Beyond his professional pursuits, Bill was a gifted stained-glass artist, blending color and light with the same meticulous care he gave his woodworking. His artistic talents extended into music as well; he was a bass player with many local bands, contributing joy and energy to the area's cultural life. He always helped other musicians and those in his circle. He followed his heart in all things and was always true to himself. He was a perfectionist who gave all he had to a project. He loved nature and plants and all animals. He was always happiest taking a ride in the country looking at nature's beauty and taking pictures to remember that time goes by so fast. You have to take time to enjoy every beautiful thing.
He was a past member of the Bath B.P.O.E. Lodge 1547 and the Hammondsport American Legion, Roswell-McDaniels Post 407. Through these organizations, he forged many friendships and served as a valued member.
Bill is survived by his loving companion of 33 years, Kathy McRae, whose steadfast partnership was a source of strength and joy. He also leaves behind his brothers, James Shults and John Shults. They, along with Kathy, carry forward the legacy of a man who was as steadfast and reliable as the fine woodwork he crafted.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Lyman and Edith (Allen) Shults, sister Virginia Hughes, and niece Judy Whitehead, whose memories he cherished.
William "Bill" Shults's life was one of creativity, community, and commitment. He will be remembered not only for his skills and talents but also for his warmth and kindness to family, friends, and all who had the privilege to know him. His contributions to the arts, music, and his community stand as a testament to a life well lived in Bath, New York. His blue eyes will be missed. Rest in peace. He was a true Renaissance man.
